Yudansha Dave Andrews
I started training towards the end of 1993 at the age of 30, quite late in life, because I wanted to get fit. I didn't enjoy gyms too much and thought I would give martial arts a go and maybe learn how to look after myself at the same time. I started training under Sensei Kurt Buxey after visiting the club, on the suggestion of a friend. Having tried other styles and clubs I felt GoJu Ryu suited me more. The deeper you go into the diversity of GoJu Ryu, the more impressive it becomes.
Sensei Kurt Buxey has a vast knowledge of GoJu Ryu and you cant help but learn from him. I didn't expect to become a great athlete or the next Bruce lee, however I always aim to be the best I can possibly be, given all my strengths and weaknesses.
We enjoy a great club spirit, training regularly, and it's heartening to see the kids grow and develop

Yudansha Sue Snow, Second Dan
I started Karate in 1991 after I was
encouraged by my son who had been training under sensei Kurt Buxey for several
months. I began training three times a week and got very involved in the club.
I now train twice a week and carry out the duties of club secretary.
Although I am 4 foot 11 inches tall and 7 1/4 stone, I have never looked for
special treatment when training and I am proud that focus and effort together
with the fun we have during training has got me this far. I feel I am a good example of the
versatility of GoJu Ryu illustrating that gender age and strength are not
important to make martial arts work, as long as you can maintain a reasonable
level of commitment and stamina.
My confidence and fitness have risen immensely since taking up Karate, even at my age (which I won't disclose), it is still great to get stuck in to the training. I love teaching, especially the children. The club members are all good friends which makes for a great atmosphere to learn in and I am proud to have achieved second Dan. I am determined that it won't stop there.

Yudansha Graham Walker
My name is Graham Walker I first started karate training back in 1991 when I started to take my son along after a while I decided to join in & have a go myself, I found it hard going at first as Sensei Kurt expects so much from a student but I soon became fitter as my gradings progressed. I got my Black Belt in November 1994-95 under Sensei Kurt Buxey. The club also holds a yearly summer camp which I find very enjoyable.
